25!….Twenty Five years ago “Do The Right Thing” was released to the world. Spike Lee brought the streets of Brooklyn to countries all over the world. Bed-Stuy Do or Die!

Spike projected social realism during the 1980’s through the views of everyday citizens living in New York City. He used characters like Radio Raheem to depict minorities uplifting each other to stand up against “the man”. Fight the power!! Mookie, played by Spike himself, displayed a young black man determined to make ends meet for his son and girlfriend, Tina, played by the beautiful Rosie Perez. Buggin’ Out’s short temper stirs not one but 2 riots. One that would leave Radio Raheem dead at the hands of a police officer and Sal’s Famous Pizzaeria burned to a crisp.

Spike produced a film that did not draw racial lines or take sides instead he empathized with all races in America. Today we celebrate this masterpiece that helped shape and change the minds of cultures internationally.
